Fishing in north west Scotland
Game fishing

Salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing is plentiful in this part of the north west and Sutherland boasts some of the finest wild brown trout fishing in the UK. There are literally hundreds of lochs and rivers in the Kinlochbervie area that hold these hard fighting fish. The fish can average 3/4 to 1lb in weight with a good chance of a 3-4 pounder or giant ferox to get the pulse going with each pull of the fly.
Permits for the local angling club and Rhiconich estate can be purchased here.
A short drive to the south, the Assynt Angling Information site provides details of angling and permits in that area.
Salmon and sea trout angling can also be obtained from Gualin Estate and Reay Forest Estate.

Sea fishing

The shore fishing around Kinlochbervie is virtually undiscovered and catches include cod, ling, coalfish, pollock, mackerel and flatfish. There are also reports of sea bass being caught locally.
